Nevis Croft Reviews - what our guests say

We've had a lovely relaxing week - thank you very much! The wine and biscuits were a lovely welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed the Fort William area - with lovely wintery snowy scenes everywhere! Many thanks - Family S, Wirral February 2020

Lovely stay - weather was kind. Had great days out. The RIB at Fort Augustus is a must. Marc the skipper is brilliant. Fort William will always be special to us. - Mr & Mrs F, Suffolk September 2019

Lovely cottage, great location, everything you need. Thanks for wine and shortbread, lovely touch. Will definitely return - Mr & Mrs W, Tyne & Wear September 2019

Been great to come to such a warm and welcoming cottage - thank you! Though we only stayed a short while, it's been very pleasant to visit the local area and stay cosy in the cottage! Off to climb Ben Nevis now with brilliant weather on our side! Once again, thank you - Family S, Edinburgh August 2019

Fantastic holiday home-from-home, thank you! What more could you want than to climb Ben Nevis from your front door? As for comments on the weather, yes, it has been wet, but as Alfred Wainwright said, 'There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing'. Despite stereotypically Scottish weather, we have had a great time and would love to come back - Family S, Cornwall August 2019

We have had a lovely stay in Nevis Croft Cottage and Fort William. The wine and biscuits were a lovely touch. So much to do and see in and around Fort William. The main thing we came here to do was to climb Ben Nevis, which we did, so we were very happy!! Would recommend this lovely cottage to anyone. Thank you - Family B, Kent August 2019

Great location, sound advice from Frances on arrival. We had a great time. Nothing to be done about wet weather and the queue of traffic when coming into Fort William! Anyone planning to try and see the train going over the viaduct needs to know that there is no parking in Glenfinnan unless you get there really early. The landscape is simply breathtakingly beautiful - Family H, Norfolk August 2019

We had a very nice week in the Scottish Highlands: an impressive area from here up to Inverness. We enjoyed staying here in this nice house - Family B, Germany August 2019

We found Nevis Croft Cottage well set up and closely situated for us to do many of the activities we had planned. Walks to Neptune's Staircase, climbing Ben Nevis 3.5 hours up and 3 hours back down, mostly avoiding the rain, and a long walk along the West Highland Way to Kinlochleven, returning by bus. This was a beautiful walk through the valley and while 14 miles long, was a highlight of the week. Additional outings by train to Mallaig and then a ferry to Skye and by bus to Dornie to see Eilean Donan Castle were both so good. Thanks for the great hospitality - Family C, Canada August 2019

Thank you for the wine and biscuits, they were lovely. Cottage is lovely and comfortable and we've enjoyed our stay. The area is beautiful and we love Scotland. This is our second year in Scotland and both times we've been lucky with the weather. Highly recommend a trip to John O'Groats and Glasgow art gallery / museum, also the viaduct. We were lucky enough to see the steam train go over. We'd recommend the Golden River Chinese in Caol. If you love wool, then Susie's Wool Shop in Alexandria is a must. Thank you again. - Family C, Wales July 2019

Comfy and clean - thank you. A great week despite bad weather at the beginning. Achieved our ascent of 'The Ben' however yesterday - all happy! - Family D, Herts July 2019

Lovely house and warm welcome - wine and shortbread. Thank you - Family Z, Netherlands July 2019

A lovely cottage, perfect as a base for hillwalking in the Fort William area. 11 Munroes completed despite variable weather. Still lots to do locally though, so will be back! Wine and shortbread a welcome gesture, much appreciated. - Family T, Yorkshire July 2019

We've had such a lovely few days enjoying the Scottish scenery. The most adventurous of us was successful summiting Ben Nevis. The less adventurous enjoyed wandering, a train trip and The Highland Museum. The accommodation was perfect for our needs - thank you! We will be recommending you to our friends. - Family D, Australia July 2019

Cosy and comfortable apartment. Great surroundings - especially Ben Nevis and waterfalls! Love this place! Hope to come back! - Family V, Lithuania June 2019

Lovely spacious but cosy cottage with everything we needed! Had a very active and pleasantly tiring week, yet there is still so much that could be done! Visited the An Steall waterfall, took a ride on the Jacobite Steam train, went to Loch Ness and saw the Falls of Foyers (the Waterfall Cafe was lovely!), climbed Ben Nevis and my legs are still twanging. Had a great recovery day at the White Sands of Morar and finally went to the 'Hidden Valley' at Glencoe which was quite simply stunning. The lovely sunshine was a bonus too! Phew! What a week.... Thank you Frances for the home away from home. PS wine and shortbread, lovely welcome! - Family N, Norfolk June 2019

Comfortable and well-equipped home. Brilliant location. Managed Aonach Mor, Steall Falls and we reached the the summit of the Ben! Gorgeous place! Thank you. - Family H, Hants May 2019

Wonderful cottage & fantastic 2 weeks spent in Fort William. Will be back. - Mr & Mrs C, Durham May 2019

This was our first adventure in Scotland. This cottage was a most excellent base for forays out to local sites, such as the wreck at Corpach, as well as up to Glen Elg and the wildlife park at Kincraig. We took many photos and ate many lovely meals out. The weather was extremely kind to us and so the thick thermals lay unworn and the tee-shirts came out. The cottage felt like home and we had everything we needed and slept like logs all week. We will definitely return to Scotland now. - Mr & Mrs C, Warwickshire May 2019

A lovely stay. We really appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and comfy, clean house. Great park run up at Nevis Range. - Mr & Mrs D, Yorkshire April 2019

Frances is very helpful. Cottage excellent accommodation for family holiday. Will be recommending to our friends and family and will be back. - Family L, Scotland July 2018

Came for a family trip to climb Ben Nevis, ascending Northern Face and descending via tourist route. Would definitely recommend the Northern route - magnificent - but would avoid the tourist route - like a slow moving conveyor belt! Enjoyed our stay in this lovely spacious property and had two good meals out: Browns (Nevis Bank Inn) and the Ben Nevis Inn. - Family P, Greater Manchester July 2018

We have really enjoyed our week here in Fort William. The cottage has been very comfortable and well stocked with everything one needs - home from home. Steall Falls walk, Oban Pheonix cinema, Easdale rib boat Seafari tour, Skye drive - excellent base for anywhere you wish to visit. - Family P, Kent July 2018

Danke. Sehr zu empfehlen. - Family M, Germany April 2018

Lovely week. Well equipped cottage. Been on some lovely walks up the Caledonian Canal and Inchree to see the waterfall but no squirrels. Hope to be back. - Family O, Tyne & Wear November 2017

Had a lovely few days in this very comfortable house. Highly recommend the walk to Steall Falls (maybe not the wire bridge part!) for a great view and an interesting path. Thank you for the supplies! - Family P, Fife October 2017

Comfortable cottage - well equipped kitchen. great base for climbing the Ben and exploring the West Highlands. The Crannog Restaurant is excellent as is the Cornerstone at Mallaig. - Mr & Mrs P, Merseyside July 2017

We felt really at home in this comfortable accommodation, wine and shortbread as a warm welcome at the table. It was lovely to be back in Fort William 20 years after finishing the West Higland Way and to drink a good beer at the Ben Nevis Inn, which was just a simple bunkhouse at that time, accompanied by our 4 sons. We loved climbing the Ben Nevis, visiting the museum, watching cute seals in the loch and eating good food in several restaurants etc etc. Thank you for your hospitality and quick communication before and during our stay in Scotland. - Family D, The Netherlands July 2017

It's our second visit to Nevis Croft Cottages.Lovely well-equipped cottage & spacious. We've had an enjoyable time - most days dry with showers - only one walk in rain! We climbed Ben Nevis on a warm day - carried our coats and had wonderful views from the top! We also walked to the waterfall, the hidden valley in Glen Coe, climbed Glenfinnan monument and went on the Jacobite Steam Train. Thank you. - Mr & Mrs T, Wales June 2017

We have enjoyed our stay in Cottage No. 1. It was well equipped, comfortable and spacious. Just as well we came prepared as we only had one dry day during our stay but this was enough to make an assault on Ben Nevis. The wine and shortbread were much appreciated too. - Mr & Mrs P, Devon June 2017

Back yet again. Superb as always. Spotlessly clean. Extremely well equipped cottage in lovely location. Bit of a 'busman's holiday' for me, but I'll be back. Many thanks. Nevis 9 times - is that enough? - Mr S, Norfolk November 2016

Thank you for a lovely stay. We've had a very nice short break and been very lucky with the weather! The mountains are fabulous and we've found lots to do with the kids. We highly recommend the High Wire activity up at Nevis Range. - Mr & Mrs M, Northamptonshire October 2016

We didn't attempt Ben Nevis, but maybe next time :). - Mr & Mrs D, Angus October 2016

This is our 2nd visit to Nevis Croft cottages. 3 years ago as a family of 4 but this time due to work, just myself and youngest son. Cottage was the same high standard as before - one of the best we've stayed in over the years. Weather was wonderful (most of the time) so we've had lots of fun. Visit to Ardnamurchan Point and Lighthouse , via Corran ferry - if you love driving this is the road for you! Nevis Range Gondola then a walk in the forest using the walking map. Could have been the only people there. Beautiful!! Deep fried haggis eaten and enjoyed. Can't wait for our 3rd visit. Thank you. - Family M, Cheshire August 2016

As previous guests have said, thank you for the wine and shortbread- a lovely thought. We were only here for a few days, but had such wet weather which meant that views were obscured! If you leave the cottage and turn right, after a short distance you will find a trail to Ben Nevis. Only managed a bit one evening, but interesting to discover previous curling ponds. - Family H, Australia July 2016

Clean, comfortable and warm. A super location for the boys to climb Ben Nevis. Easy walk to town too. Many thanks for the shortbread and wine, much appreciated, thank you. - Family D, N. Ireland July 2016

On 24/4/10 I made an entry in the book to say how much we had enjoyed being here. Today is our last day of this visit - on which we brought our daughters, their husbands and our 5 grandchildren. We booked out the three units and have been as happy and impressed as we were six years ago! Thank you for living up to our memories, and helping us to create some more, very special ones. For our 'children' and grandchildren, it was their first experience of snow and they truly loved it - and have been grateful to come back to warm, well equipped units! Our thanks once more. - Mr & Mrs R, Australia April 2016

We would highly recommend this property, it has everything you need for a comfortable holiday away from home, incl the bonus of two W.C.'s. The lovely welcoming gift of shortbread and wine made us feel at home right from the start. We had the pleasure of meeting Frances and Alan who were a lovely couple and provided us with lots of local knowledge to head us in the right direction. Great location and handy to the town centre but far enough away from the busier roads. A wonderful experience and we hope to come back one day. - Family T, Australia September 2015

Thank you for a relaxing holiday - lovely cottage - wish we could stay longer! Breathtaking scenery. Thanks for the shortbread - much enjoyed. - Family R, Australia September 2015

Great holiday. Superb location and lovely accommodation. Ideal base from which to undertake all the outdoor activities and enjoy the stunning scenery. Thanks very much! - Family W, Hants August 2015

We have had a great week in your lovely cottage. We arrived by train and found there is plenty to explore by foot or train then walking. Would highly recommend train ride over to Mallaig - beautiful scenery on the way. We went once on the Jacobite and then yesterday caught lunchtime train out to spend afternoon walking around Glenfinnan (really useful trail map at station museum), including standing in rain with people from various nationalities to wait for the Jacobite train to come over viaduct as in the scene from Harry Potter. Walked one day up Great Glen Way and another day along West Highland Way - turning right from cottage, Braveheart car park is 15 minutes walk and lots of Forestry Commission trails from there. Fantastic tasty and great value breakfasts at the Highland Centre just down road - a good way to get teenagers out of the house on a rainy morning! - Family H, Oxfordshire August 2015

A really lovely comfortable cottage. This was our first visit to Scotland. We loved it - the views at Glencoe are breathtaking and the lochs are just beautiful - we can't wait to come back. - Mr & Mrs H, Birmingham August 2015

We had a wonderful family fortnight. Weather never bad for long - some wonderful walks Ben & Glen Nevis. Swimming: polar bears at Kingussie and children at local pool & Morar. Excellent food at the 'Ben Nevis'. Great welcome at Baptist church on Sunday. Scottish people friendly everywhere. - Family M, Norfolk June 2015

We have spent a lovely time in Fort William despite the weather. The shortbread and wine were a nice surprise that we appreciated. Thank you. - Family F, France June 2015

We had a very good week staying here and achieved all of our aims, including a successful assault on Ben Nevis. Full winter conditions after 600 metres in spite of which we made it all the way to the Trig point cairn at the top. An excellent base of operations from which to mount our daily forays into the heart of Lochaber. Who would not want to stay here rather than anywhere else? The welcome gifts waiting on arrival were a very pleasant and unexpected surprise.- Mr & Mrs H, Kent April 2015

Really nice stay. Lovely and clean and tidy.- Family H, Devon March 2015

Lovely stay; only the cloud over the eclipse let us down!- Mr & Mrs S, Isle of Wight March 2015

Thank you Frances and Alan for arranging our stay at your cottage. It was fully equipped so that we immediately felt at home. This also was a perfect location for exploring the outdoor beauty of Fort William, especially the amazing mountains, and just near to the town centre. We enjoyed the wine and shortbread. It was very nice, all thanks to you. We would highly recommend your cottage.- Family L, Colchester January 2015

First stay at Nevis Croft for a family and friends birthdays celebration in Cottages 2 & 3. Owners very helpful and welcoming, providing baby cots and baby chairs for two children. Nice and close for jaunts into Fort William and up Glen Nevis for a lovely walk to Steall Waterfall. Older children and adults loved crossing the wire rope bridge! Would come again. - Family W, Dumfries and Galloway January 2015

Sixth stay at this warm and cosy cottage. Thank you Frances and Alan for an enjoyable stay and the wine and shortbread - it really is a nice touch and much appreciated. Staying here on our trip back from our annual autumn holiday in Ullapool makes it less painful and really is preferable to staying in a hotel. Oh.. and thanks for the fantastic TV. - Mr F, Liverpool November 2014

Thank you for making our first week in Scotland such a pleasure. Quiet, clean & well appointed. You are blessed in living in such a beautiful part of the world. - Mr & Mrs D, Australia Sept 2014

Third visit to these cottages and again we had a fantastic time. Thank you. - Family B, Derbyshire Sept 2014

This was the perfect cottage for our holiday - very clean, good location, very well equipped and lovely, friendly owners. Would highly recommend to others. Days out we would recommend: - going up the gondolas and snow tubing at the top (although food at cafe was expensive and disappointing) - Neptune's Staircase and a drink at the Moorings Hotel, - Glenfinnan(climbing the monument and watching train on viaduct), - Camusdarach beach near Morar and Mallaig (this is stunning!) - Tobermory (we got the ferry from Kilchoan - much cheaper than Oban ferries and a lovely drive to Kilchoan), - Sanna Sands (hard to believe this is a beach in Scotland - beautiful). There is also a fantastic public park in the grounds of the leisure centre just along the road from the cottage. We hope to be back again soon. Thanks so much! - Family P, Corbridge August 2014

Thank you for a great stay in your comfortable, well equipped cottage. Weather was mixed but did not stop our days out to Mallaig, Oban, Caledonian Canal. We enjoyed our climb to the Hidden Valley and walk to Steall Gorge and Waterfall. My husband and eldest son climbed Ben Nevis whilst myself & the youngest went up in the gondolas. Fantastic week! Thank you for the hospitality - Family S, Yorkshire August 2014

Great cottage, very spacious and modern. Everything we needed was there. Thank you for the wine and shortbread - much appreciated. We would particularly recommend Glenfinnan - monument & station, the motorboats on a warm day on the Caledonian Canal, trip to Mull to see Tobermory - Skye - but you need 2 days to see the many wonderful geological features. We ate at the Alexandra - great food but very hot on the day we went. The Crofters Bar- good deals but few puddings. - Family D, Sheffield August 2014

What a wonderful holiday home-from-home. Perfectly situated to explore the glorious surroundings and spotlessly cleaned when we arrived. Lovely and cosy while watching the world go by in the rain! Also, keep an eye out for the red deer on the bank behind the house. have seen them 3 times this week! Hope to return again. - Family L, Nottinghamshire Aug 2013

We were delightfully surprised with the cottage, the website doesn't do it justice!! Weather a bit mixed, ate out at Browns a couple of times - excellent food and surroundings only 2 mins away, go early or book! Will definitely recommend here to family and friends, spotlessly cleaned and fully equipped. Be back soon. - Family N, Angus Aug 2013

A lovely well equipped cottage and well placed to explore the west of Scotland. The views at this time of year are spectacular. Recommend the walks around Glen Nevis for the family. There is also a lot to explore on a trip to Mallaig.- Family C. Derbyshire Oct 2012
